Constitution’s Goodman, Walker going Division I

Daiquan Walker

Savon Goodman and Daiquan Walker, the two player who led Constitution High to a Public League and a PIAA Class state championship, will be playing Division I college basketball next season. Goodman will be headed to UNLV. Walker will be going to Central Florida.

Goodman, a 6-foot-7 forward, led the Public League scoring. He averaged 27.5 points a game and is a multi-talented player. He can score in the open court. He can handle the ball. He can rebound and play good defense. He was one of the most complete players in the city.

Rob Moore, Constitution’s head coach, is excited for both players. Moore feels Goodman and Walker should do well at the collegiate level.

“Savon is going to UNLV,” Moore said. “They have a great program. I think it’s a good fit for him with their style of play. Daiquan is going down to Central Florida. That’s a good school for him. They had been recruiting for two years. I think Savon and Daiquan are going to be fine.”

Walker, a 6-foot-2 guard, was the third leading scorer in the league. He averaged 19.3 points a game and was named MVP of the league championship game.

“I’m really excited about going down there,” Walker said. “I felt real comfortable with the team. I really liked the coaches. They have a good program. I could play a little bit of point guard and shooting guard. But the coaches like my ability to score. They like guards who can break down a defender and go out there and make a play.”

Walker is definitely capable of doing that. He has the ability to create his own shot off the dribble. He can also score from three–point range.

“This is a great school for me,” he said. “I’m looking forward to going down there and playing for them.”
