Brown presents Step Into College conference

Councilwoman Blondell Reynolds Brown, Steppingstone Scholars, and the University of the Sciences presents Step Into College: Philadelphia’s Pre-College conference Saturday, March 7 from 9 a.m. to 2:15 p.m. at the University of the Sciences, McNeil Science and Technology Center. The conference is geared toward 8th to 12th grade students. Approximately 30 workshops will cover a range of college topics. Town hall meeting focuses on civic safety

State Representative Mark B. Cohen, city police Captain Thomas McLean, and the second police district presents a town hall meeting Thursday, March 19 at 7 p.m. at 6000 Rising Sun Ave. (Lawncrest Recreation Center). Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. The topic of discussion will be policing and the community. Philadelphia Police Commissioner Charles H. Ramsey, District Attorney Seth Williams, Police Advisory Commission member Kelvin Anderson, President of Guardian Civic League Rochelle Bilal, and Philadelphia Daily News Editor Michael Days will be on the panel. Wardrobe Boutique to hold special prom event

The Wardrobe Boutique will be having a special prom event Saturday, March 21 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at 1822 Spring Garden St. Customers are invited to enjoy hair, make-up and styling tips with professionals as well as refreshments and 10 percent of all purchases with student ID. The Friends of St. Martin de Porres School Board presents its 6th annual school gala Thursday, April 9 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. The theme is Diligent Dreamers.
