CVS Health and its foundation have committed more than $1 million in grants to support tobacco cessation programs. The grants will be distributed to leading health care and community partners working to promote tobacco-free communities, programs that help people kick the habit and help those who don’t smoke to never start.
The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia is one of 28 organizations whose smoking cessation program will be supported by the CVS grants.
St. Christopher’s physician receives 2014 Miller-Sarkin mentoring award
Dr. Nancy Spector, ambulatory pediatric attending physician and pediatric residency program director at St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children and professor of pediatrics at Drexel University College of Medicine, has been awarded the Miller-Sarkin Mentoring Award by the Academic Pediatric Association (APA).
The Miller-Sarkin Award recognizes the contributions of an APA member who has provided outstanding mentorship to learners or colleagues, locally and nationally. The award was first given in 2006 and has been presented each year since.
Abington Health appoints associate medical director
Abington Health has announced that Dr. Nataliya Ternopolska has joined the neurology group and has been named associate medical director of Abington Health’s Multiple Sclerosis Center.
A graduate of Vinnica Medical University in Ukraine, Ternopolska completed her residency in Neurology at Albert Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia and completed a fellowship in Multiple Sclerosis at the Judith Jaffe Multiple Sclerosis Center at Weill Cornell Medical College. Ternopolska is board certified in Psychiatry and Neurology. She practices in Blue Bell, Flourtown, Collegeville and Warminster, diagnosing and devising treatment plans for patients with general neurologic problems.
Holy Redeemer Hospice hosts annual Tree of Lights celebration
Holy Redeemer Hospice hosts the annual Tree of Lights celebration Dec. 7 at the hospice’s offices located at 12265 Townsend Road. The celebration gives families and individuals the opportunity to honor the memory of family members and loved ones who have passed.
Holy Redeemer serves patients throughout Bucks, Montgomery and Philadelphia counties.
