Dennis A. Hopson Jr., an avid Eagles fan, died on Sunday, Oct. 27, 2019. He was 75.
He was born in Roanoke, Virginia, on May 13, 1944, to the late Dennis and Nannie Hopson.
He grew up in Philadelphia and attended Philadelphia public schools. After school, Hopson ventured into the hospitality industry. He was a host with open arms and welcomed everyone. Daily, you could either witness him walking to go and play the lottery or taking a drive while dressed in his cowboy boots and hat. He loved sports and his favorite football team was the Philadelphia Eagles.
In 1994, he met his future wife, Loronda. Together they raised a village of children and grandchildren. On May 12, 2006, they were united in marriage. He was a family man and took pride in his family.
In addition to his parents, Hopson was preceded in death by his sister Collen, and brothers Ronald, Robert, and Charles.
He is survived by: his wife, Loronda; children, Patricia, Renee, Darryl, Dennis III, Kareem, Daniel, Marcus, DeAndre, Keith, Ernest, Westly, Khalif, Alexander, Alfonso, and Johnny; sisters, Betty, Mary, and Dorothy and a host of grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Services were held on Nov. 6 at St. Ignatius Chapel, 4401 Haverford Ave. Interment was at Fernwood Cemetery.
