Suspects sought in Rhawnhurst motel shootout

The Philadelphia Police Department’s Northeast Detective Division is asking for the public’s help in identifying the suspects involved in a shooting in the Rhawnhurst section of the city.

Law enforcement authorities said that on March 31, at 12:28 a.m., 2nd District officers responded to a radio call for a shooting inside the Roosevelt Motor Inn located at 7600 Roosevelt Blvd. When police arrived an employee stated he heard gunshots coming from a hallway. Soon after the gunshots an unknown Black male ran past the front desk armed with a handgun and fled through the parking lot then south on the Roosevelt Boulevard. Surveillance video recovered depicts a group of Black male running through the hallways shooting at each other. No victims were found and fortunately no one was found injured.

The first suspect is a Black male, 30 years-of-age, and stand about 5-foot-8. He has a thin build and was wearing all black clothing. The second suspect is heavy set, is about 6-feet tall and was also wearing all black.

Suspect sought in sexual assault case

The Philadelphia Police Department’s Special Victims Unit is asking for the public’s help in identifying the suspect for wanted for a sexual assault and robbery in Center City East.

On April 9, at 1:30 p.m., the victim, a 34-year-old male, was staying at the Hilton Home 2 Suites Hotel, located at 1200 Arch St. while in town for an educational conference when he met an unknown male on the Internet, the “GRINDR” website, and invited him over to his hotel room.

When the suspect arrived at the victim’s room, the suspect stated that he had a gun and then sexually assaulted him. The suspect then forced the complainant to withdraw $200 each from five area ATM machines then forced him to purchase four $500 VISA gift cards. A short time later the victim and suspect arrived at the Irish Pub, located at 2007 Walnut St., where the victim managed to run away from the suspect. The suspect also fled on foot in an unknown direction.

The suspect is described as a Black male, 20 years-of-age. He is about 5-foot-11 with wavy hair and star tattoos on the back of his right hand. He was wearing a dark colored jacket, dark blue jeans with rips and tan Timberland boots.
