Radio Shack hit by smash-and-grab robber

Philadelphia police are investigating the robbery of a Radio Shack in the city’s Mt. Airy section and are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying the bandit.

According to investigators, the incident happened on Nov. 22 at 9:15 a.m. An unknown male was captured on surveillance video gaining entry to the Radio Shack located at 7723 Crittenden St. by breaking the glass to the front door. Once inside, the offender broke open the cash register and removed the cash drawer. After taking the cash register drawer containing $313 in cash the offender fled in an unknown direction. The suspect is described as a Black male, 30 to 40 years of age with a stocky build and medium complexion. He was wearing a dark ski cap, gray hooded sweatshirt, tan khaki pants, dark sneakers, and reddish/orange colored gloves.

 

Shooting Suspect Arrested

The Philadelphia Police Department would like to thank the public and the media for assisting in the apprehension of Jhileel Burton for an alleged shooting and aggravated assault that occurred May 19 at 1:47 a.m.

According to investigators, the victim, a 28-year-old female, was leaving Bailey’s Bar, at Bailey and Dickinson Streets when she was stopped by an unknown male from the neighborhood and engaged in a conversation with him. During the conversation, Burton allegedly pulled out a gun and fired it. As the victim attempted to pull away, Burton allegedly fired several shots at her vehicle, striking the victim once in her right shoulder.

On Nov. 22, 2012, South Detectives received an anonymous phone call leading to the whereabouts of Burton on the 200 block of Rubicam Street where he was arrested without further incident. Burton is 18 years old and is from the 200 block of Rubicam Street. He is charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault and related offenses.
