Young men from the sixth grade at Elkins Park School (5-6) in the Leadership Academy participated in the sixth annual Tie Ceremony last Thursday.

Held in Kircher Hall, the program is “dedicated to the pursuit of excellence, responsibility and unity.” The Leadership Academy is an after-school program for boys of color and aims to eliminate the achievement gap.

Group sponsors Tai Crutchfield, Quyntyn Gaston and Cyd Smith subscribe to the Frederick Douglass quote, “It is easier to build strong children than to repair broken men.”
