Laquan is an energetic, happy and curious 3-year-old who adores Elmo and music. Quick on his feet, he loves to explore his surroundings and especially enjoys playing outside. His favorite activities include running and climbing and watching “Barney” on television. Affectionate and loving, he delights in the one-on-one attention his caretakers give him.
This resilient and smart little boy is thriving in preschool where he is learning new words and concepts. He receives special education services and benefits from the small class size and individual attention. The speech, physical and occupational therapies he gets at school have strengthened his developing skills. Laquan is able to express his desires and needs and understands the requests made of him.
The ideal family for Laquan would be patient, loving and committed to advocating for his ongoing medical, developmental and educational needs. He should be the youngest child in the home. Laquan is eligible for financial subsidy.
Often people think of babies when they hear the word “adoption.” There are, however, relatively few infants in the foster care system awaiting permanent homes. The majority of the children are school age; many have physical, emotional and/or mental challenges. It takes a special kind of family to be able to open their hearts and their home to these children. Perhaps your family is that kind of family.
Please contact the National Adoption Center, 1500 Walnut Street, Suite 701, Philadelphia, PA, 19102, if you would like more information about adopting children out of the foster care system. You can also call 215-735-9988 today for a free packet of information, or visit the website at www.adopt.org.
