Mayor Jim Kenney, City Council President Darrell Clarke, City Representative Sheila Hess and 6abc President and General Manager, Bernie Prazenica unveiled an historical marker recognizing the Thanksgiving Day Parade as the oldest known Thanksgiving Day Parade in the country at a dedication ceremony at LOVE Park in Center City on Thursday, Nov. 7, 2019. The marker, supported by a 10-foot pole, will be installed near Eakins Oval on the Ben Franklin Parkway, the city’s iconic arts and culture corridor later this month.
