The 1926 Foundation, Inc. and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Omega Omega Chapter, presented “Pink Paradise AKA Does Carnival,” at its 2015 Annual Luncheon Fashion Show on Feb. 7. The event, attended by nearly 800 members and guests, was held at the Hilton Hotel in Philadelphia.

June Blue and Shawn Blue, the dynamic mother and daughter team, did a wonderful job chairing the event. Both were acknowledged for their exceptional work by the sorority’s leadership.

Carol B. Rice is president of The 1926 Foundation, Inc., which is the sorority chapter’s philanthropic arm, the Rev. Lorina Marshall Blake is president of the Omega Omega Chapter and Meredith Henderson serves as North Atlantic regional director.

Rice warmly welcomed guests and her message was, “This event always indicates that spring is getting close and closer. The 1926 Foundation is proud to co-sponsor this annual event. All the proceeds from this event will be earmarked for educational and charitable organizations, serving the needs of the Philadelphia community and whose missions reflect the vision and mission of The 1926 Foundation and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.

“The international theme of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority is Launching New Dimensions of Service. The members of the Omega Omega Chapter will work hard to fulfill the charge through its work in the community. The 1926 Foundation is committed to support, enhance and expand the programs set forth by the Omega Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.”

Blake also extended welcoming remarks and thanks to all for their support. She said, “Once again, this occasion gives me the opportunity to say thank you to all of you, our friends, our family and our supporters for not only your support for the luncheon fashion show, but all of our activities you support throughout the year. Because of your continuing commitment, the Omega Omega Chapter is able to continue awarding scholarships and grants to students and deserving community organizations at our Annual Day of Sharing. It has been said and I believe it bears repeating that ‘giving is an ongoing process.’ And, it’s not just about being able to write a check (for which we are truly thankful), but even more importantly being able to touch lives and make ripples. Again, on behalf of the Omega Omega Chapter, our leadership, the Luncheon & Fashion Show Committee, almost 500 members, thank you for helping us to do extraordinary things through our ‘service to all mankind.’”

It was another milestone for this organization to bring the community together in an upbeat, enjoyable way. The fashions by Designers, Inc. were absolutely fabulous, with male models adding a touch of spice. The Rev. Charles Quann, Pastor of Bethlehem Baptist Church in Spring House certainly made his mark as a phenomenal male model. The luncheon was delicious and the warmth of friendship and fellowship was wonderful.

Congratulations to all officers, other event committee members and all involved in helping make The 1926 Foundation, Inc. and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Omega Omega Chapter “Pink Paradise AKA Does Carnival” 2015 Annual Luncheon Fashion Show a huge success.

Have a fantastic week “Out & About,” everyone!
