Nation of Islam leader Minister Louis Farrakhan has issued a warning to President Donald Trump regarding his plans to send federal troops to Chicago.
“This is not a forsaken people and the God that we serve has promised us that he would fight our battles,” Farrakhan said as he delivered a keynote address at the Joe Louis Arena in Detroit.
Trump recently threatened to take action if the city’s homicide rate did not come down. Chicago has had 101 murders so far this year.
“If Chicago doesn’t fix the horrible carnage going on, I will send in the Feds!,” Trump recently posted on Twitter.
Farrakhan’s warning to Trump came as he spoke on Feb. 19 during the Nation of Islam’s Saviours’ Day convention held in Detroit.
“We don’t have no gun to equal yours, but we’ve got a God,” Farrakhan said. “Check out the West Coast. See, you never seen no rain like that. You haven’t seen nothing yet.
“I’m saying to Mr. Trump...you can come bring your Army, but if you slaughter my little young brothers watch what God will do for you Mr. Trump, and for the country that you said you want to make great again,” Farrakhan added.
“That’s not going to happen Mr. Trump. America will never be made great again, her days of greatness are over,” Farrakhan added. “The God of justice has come and America now has to pay for what she has done.”
Efforts to reach a White House spokesperson for response Monday were unsuccessful.
