Saturday Night Live has added another African-American female cast member. Leslie Jones will be moving from behind the writers’ room and joining the cast on stage. Last year the iconic, late night comedy show welcomed another African-American female Sasheer Zamata. Originally, Jones auditioned alongside Zamata. Both were hired. Zamata for the cast, and Jones as a writer. Jones has been making appearances on “Weekend Update” already. She even had a controversial slavery bit that got quite a bit of criticism, which “SNL” used to thrive in when it first began 40 years ago this season.

In more “Saturday Night Live” news, the show will be rolling out the red carpet on Nov. 1 when Chris Rock returns as host with Prince performing as the musical guest. Rock’s new movie, “Top Five,” opens in theaters Dec. 5. The movie also stars Rosario Dawson, Sherry Shepherd, Kevin Hart, JB Smoove, Cedric The Entertainer, Tracy Morgan, Sommore and Gabrielle Union. The movie is about a famous comedian who has lost his way his rise to fame, and Dawson is the lady who brings him down to earth.

Halle Berry wants her child support payments reduced. The Oscar winner currently pays out $16,000 a month to her ex-boyfriend Model Gabriel Aubry. They have a six-year old daughter. Berry has asked a judge to reduce the payments to $3,000 a month. She feels her baby daddy should get a job and stop living off her money. Aubry says $16,000 a month is justified because his daughter needs to live in the lifestyle that she is accustomed to when she is living with her mother. Aubry says he still has modeling gigs, but he needs to be available for his daughter because he shares custody with Berry.

Singer Fantasia has gone from Miss to Mrs. There had been lot of speculation about Fantasia’s private life, and now it can be confirmed. Fantasia is married to businessman Kendall Taylor. Fantasia was recently inducted into the North Carolina Music Hall Of Fame, and she was wearing a ring in her pictures and so was Taylor. Taylor recently had Fantasia’s name tattooed across his chest, and they have sharing the photos on social media. Like Halle Berry, Fantasia is having baby daddy troubles, too. Brandel Shouse is suing Fantasia for custody of their 13-year-old daughter. Shouse says he is not happy with the way Fantasia is living her life. Fantasia’s reps say Shouse has never paid child support and doesn’t have a relationship with their daughter. Fantasia and Shouse’s relationship ended after it turned violent, and he pleaded guilty to assault. Meanwhile, the former “American Idol” champ’s new hubby (Taylor) has a criminal past of his own. Sources say they got hitched after knowing each other for only two weeks. Fantasia says she is aware of her husband’s past record, but says Taylor has turned his life around and that’s why she loves him. Friends Fantasia say she has found the love of her life with Taylor after going through an embarrassing episode and pregnancy with a very married Antwaun Cook. Fantasia is happy with her life and the man of her dreams.

At the movies this week, “Dear White People,” the award-winning, critically acclaimed movie is coming to Philly. “Dear White People” is a comedy satire by Justin Simien, who wrote, produced and directed the movie. The film is a satire about being a Black face in a white place. I found it to be funny and the cast refreshing. They do a great job dealing with racial politics. The movie stars Tyler James Williams from “Everybody Hates Chris,” Tessa Thompson (“Veronica Mars”), who is outstanding, Teyonah Parris, Brandon Bell, Kyle Gallner and Dennis Haysbert (“24”).

Tickets are on sale now for the WDAS Holiday Jam. WDAS Radio is partnering with Soul Train for a great night of music with Jill Scott, Kem, Faith Evans, Joe and Ledisi on Black Friday, Nov. 28 at the Liacouras Center, Broad Street and Montgomery Avenue.
