Joseph Sikora

Hundreds of fans of the Starz show “Power” filled a Cherry Hill theater Sunday for a special screening of their favorite show. For the past 6 seasons, fans have followed the lives of James St. Patrick, his best friend Tommy Egan, his wife Tasha and his high school sweetheart Angela Valdes. With just a few episodes left that journey is coming to a close.

Actor Joseph Sikora who plays the often sarcastic rage-filled drug dealer Tommy Egan surprised fans by showing up at the screening. He does such a good job that fans had trouble separating him from his character.

Sikura said “You have people come up to you all the time and they swear the character is a real person. It's a badge of honor. In fact, after season two, 50 Cent said, ‘You know you did right.’ I said, What's that he goes, “People are gonna be calling you Tommy for the rest of your life.”

Even though the show is ending Sikora is happy with all that the show has accomplished in the past 6 seasons.

“I would like “Power” to remembered as a show that took risks, did great storytelling and had committed artists involved. I think that we did a really accurate depiction of the consequences of being in that kind of a lifestyle and also an accurate depiction of people of all different colors in New York City. There aren’t too many shows with a black lead plus another black female lead that’s written by a black woman. I'm really proud to be part of that. And I'm proud that we were able to not only transcend racial politics in America but all over the world and I'm really, really proud to be part of that project., said Sikora.
