Justin Finch

Justin Finch, formerly of WTVJ in Miami, Florida, has joined CBS 3 and The CW Philly’s “Eyewitness News” team as a reporter.

A member of the WTVJ staff since 2011, Finch was also an anchor/reporter for “Channel One News,” a nationally broadcast, daily educational news program seen by millions of students in their classrooms every school day. CBS 3/CW Philly states that Finch began his journalism career as a reporter and anchor for New York City’s “News 12 The Bronx & Brooklyn” in 2005, but the Atlanta native states that he has strong personal ties to The City of Brotherly Love.

“I’ve been visiting family (aunts, uncles and cousins) and friends in Philadelphia all of my life. So when the opportunity came along to join a great station like CBS 3, and be closer to loved ones, it seemed like a perfect fit,” Finch said in a statement.

“I’m looking forward to exploring the diversity of Philadelphia and South Jersey. From the many cultures, to the neighborhoods, to politics, there’s so much happening here.

“I’m hoping that over the next few years that anyone with a story will feel more than comfortable bringing it my way. So much of reporting is building relationships with the community, and I want them to know I’m here.”

Finch earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and Africana studies at Cornell University and has a Master of Science degree in journalism from Columbia University in New York City. He also completed the CNN Master’s Fellow program in Atlanta in 2005, and is a member of the National Association of Black Journalists.

“So far, the reception has been warmer than the weather,” Finch said. “I’ve been surprised so far how willing people have been to welcome the new guy.”
