As we desperately try to shake off the dregs of winter, Longwood Gardens, in Kennett Square, has announced its 2018 Summer Performance Series, bringing with it the promise of warmer days to come.

Taking place in the expansive garden’s spectacular surroundings — both natural and man-made — Longwood’s Summer Performance Series begins with the popular Wine & Jazz Festival on June 1-2. The event will feature performances by the Wine & Jazz All Stars, including Temple University professor and revered trumpeter Terell Stafford, Philly’s brilliant bassist, Christian McBride and his New Jawn Quartet and trombonist Delfeayo Marsalis, of the celebrated musical Marsalis family out of New Orleans.

From classical to Broadway, this year’s dynamic and diverse lineup has something for everyone, including Rhiannon Giddens (June 13); Audra McDonald (June 17); The Delaware Symphony Orchestra with Jennifer Koh (July 8); Ladysmith Black Mambazo (Aug. 14); Scott Bradlee’s Postmodern Jukebox (Aug. 19); Bollywood Boulevard: A Journey Through Hindi Cinema (Aug. 21) and NPR’s “From the Top” hosted by Christopher O’Riley (Sept. 9).

Additional performances are being added to this summer’s lineup. For information, visit longwoodgardens.org.
