Registration is now open for Make Music Philly, a free “do it yourself” festival held each June 21, the summer solstice, that celebrates music across the entire city with performances and participatory events in parks, storefronts, sidewalks, and anywhere in between.

According to the Make Music Alliance, Make Music Philly, taking place across Philadelphia and Delaware County, harnesses the collective creative power of Philadelphia to foster a day of mass music-making across the city. Artists of every musical genre can participate anytime, and any place can become a venue for free music. Artists who need a venue, or venues who need performers can sign up through the Make Music Day matchmaking software to find each other. Performances are listed and mapped on the Make Music Philly website, making it easy for anyone to find music near them throughout the day.

Make Music Philly unites music lovers across the city, inviting all to “listen, perform, and explore.” Every kind of musician and every kind of listener — young and old, experienced or novice, jazz or opera — are welcome.

Anyone can visit www.MakeMusicPhilly.org to register as a performer or venue and get more information. Registration for performers and venues will remain open until April 26. A complete list of performances and venues will be posted on the website just before June 21.
