Ida M. Perry, 88, practical nurse

Services were held Feb. 9 for Elder Ida M. Perry.

Perry died Friday, Feb. 1, 2013. She was 88.

She was born Feb. 13, 1924 in Youngstown, Ohio the late Geneva and Henry Dudley.

After attending public schools, Perry became a licensed practical nurse. She worked in nursing homes as a private duty nurse and retired from Temple University Hospital’s as a examine nurse for the OB/GYN clinic.

Perry joined Church of Christ Disciples at an early age. She served faithfully as a choir member, delegate, missionary and in other capabilities for 25 years.

She was inspired by the word of God in Numbers, Chapter 14, to start the New Generation Church of Christ Disciples. She attended Jamison Bible Institute and received a master’s degree in theology.

In 1953, she married James Perry Jr., who preceded her in death along with her mother and sister.

She is survived by her daughters, Geraldine, Ruth and Barbara; son, James 3rd; son-and-daughter-in-law, Charles and Janice, and other relatives and friends.

Services were held Feb. 9 at New Generation Church of God, 1423 Bouvier St. Burial was in Mt. Peace.

Savin Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
