Nathaniel L. Williamson, also known as Lorenzo, was a gifted organist.
Williamson died Nov. 4, 2012. He was 61.
He was born on June 19, 1951 in Philadelphia to Ann Elizabeth Williamson Burnett. He was educated in the Philadelphia public school system.
He was baptized as a youth at Union Baptist Church under the pastorate of the Rev. James E. Kirkland and assistant Rev. Joseph Kirkland.
At an early age, he displayed his gifts as a self-taught pianist and organist. He later attended Cheyney University, Shaw University and the Settlement School of Music.
One of Williamson’s greatest achievements was the first time he played the organ at Union Baptist Church, 19th and Fitzwater streets.
He utilized his talents by playing for numerous churches and funeral establishments in Philadelphia and surrounding areas. He also served as the choir director for several of the churches for which he played.
He survived by his sister, Linda Burnett; aunt, Alcine Johnson and other relatives and friends.
Services will be held Nov. 13 at Saint John AME Church of Paschell, 2114 S. 71st St. Viewing will be at 9 a.m. Services will follow at 11 a.m.
