Police seek public help, offer reward

The Philadelphia Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance in taking a dangerous fugitive wanted for murder off of the streets, and there’s a $20,000 reward for his arrest and conviction.

Law enforcement authorities are looking for Anthony Baker, 26. Baker, whose last known address was the 6300 block of Algard Street, is wanted for the murder of David McClenic, 23.

According to investigators, on Thursday, Feb. 9, 2012, just before 1:30 a.m., 39th District police officers responded to a report of gunfire in the vicinity of Marion and Hansberry Streets. When officers arrived at the scene, they found McClenic on the street suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to the torso. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The investigation reveals that the victim was involved in a physical altercation with several males before the shooting and Baker has been identified as the prime suspect.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Anthony Baker should immediately contact Philadelphia Police Homicide Unit (215) 686-3334/35 or dial 911.

In an unrelated murder investigation law enforcement authorities said they have arrested a 19-year old man wanted for the murder of his pregnant girlfriend.

On Thursday, Feb. 16, police apprehended Aaron Fitzpatrick of the 2000 block of South 8th Street. Fitzpatrick was wanted for the murder of 24-year-old Tiffany Gillespie which happened on the same day.

According to police, Gillespie’s body was found about 2:20 a.m. by her mother in the basement of their home in the 2300 block of South Mildred Street. She had been shot in the head and was pronounced dead at the scene. Fitzpatrick was arrested and charged with murder, first degree murder of an unborn child, weapons offenses and related charges.

In another unrelated murder investigation law enforcement authorities said they have arrested an 18-year-old for the slaying of the son of a Philadelphia Police officer.

Rasheed Gey, of the 5400 block of Stewart Street was arrested on Feb. 17. He was wanted in connection with the murder of Dennis Gore Jr., 24, that happened on Feb. 6 at 1:41 p.m.

On the day in question, police responded to a report of a person with a gun on the 5500 block of Hunter Street. When they arrived at the scene they found Gore lying on the ground and suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to the body. He was rushed to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania where he was pronounced dead. Gey is charged with murder, reckless endangering another person, weapons violations and related offenses. A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for March 7.
